How do I cite an image?

Use the APA and AMA citation guides to help you figure out (pun intended!) how to format in-text citations for images.

If you are using a stock image or clip art image predominantly for decorative purposes, stop and consider whether it is appropriate or necessary. For academic content it is usually advised to avoid purely decorative images and only include visual aids that help convey meaning, data or content.
